March/April Update
Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ,
We rejoice greatly in the wonders and blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ! We are reminded of Paul’s letter to the Church at Ephesus when he wrote in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” Our Lord has richly blessed us and provided for us as we have transitioned down to Texas. We are getting settled and
enjoying our new home.

During the months of March and April, we presented our ministry at churches in Illinois and Missouri. I (James) was able to attend the Servant’s Conference at the First Baptist Church, in Hammond, Indiana. This opportunity provided us with several potential ministry partners. We have had a few churches agree to partner with us on a monthly basis and several churches have provided a one-time gift. I’ve said it recently and often,
God’s people are the very best and it’s our joy to labor together with you in the gospel. We are presently at about 10% of promised support.

THE CLOSING OF ONE CHAPTER AND THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER
As many of you are aware, I resigned my position with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), after 15-years of federal service, to step out by faith and come down to start Leander Baptist Church. My last official day in the office was April 24th. God has miraculously worked in our lives to allow us this opportunity to serve Him here in Leander, Texas. I am thankful for a patient Father that graciously leads, directs, guides, and provides when we walk with Him by faith. God truly rewards obedience and faith!
OUR FIRST CONVERT IN LEANDER
We arrived in Leander on Tuesday, May 6th and unloaded our belongings at our new home. After seeing the many new homes, new businesses and industry, and the vast number of people in the surrounding communities, I’m fully reminded and convinced that our Lord’s words are true “…the harvest truly is plenteous”. The need for a gospel preaching local New Testament Church is clearly evident. Just one week after moving to Leander, I had the wonderful opportunity to win our first soul to the Lord. My son and I were cleaning the garage when a gentleman named Jeremy walked up to our home. He had called earlier in the week and stopped by for a follow up on a warranty that’s available for our home. After he went through the warranty and the services he could provide, I asked if I could share with him a warranty myself. I told him my warranty did not come with a price and was free. Someone else had already paid for him to receive it. I asked him if he knew for 100% sure that he’d go to heaven. He proceeded to talk about his ‘calling’ and how he makes ‘Christian’ films. He had spent most of his life in Los Angeles and moved to Texas recently. I asked again, if he knew 100% that he’d go to heaven. He mentioned that some time ago, he’d had an encounter with God and that he’s always been religious from his Catholic upbringing. I asked another question, “If God were to ask you, ‘Why should I let you into heaven, what would you say?” He talked about all the things he was doing. I asked him, “has anyone ever taken a Bible and showed you how you could know, with 100% certainty, that you’d go to heaven?” He said that no one had ever shown him from the Bible. I asked him if I could take a few moments and show him what God says about going to heaven. He said that he’d love to hear it. After about 45 minutes of going through the plan of salvation, Jeremy bowed his head and trusted Christ as his Savior. This is the reason God brought us to Leander, Texas!
There are many more, just like Jeremy, who are eager to hear the good news of the gospel. Will you pray with us that God will bring our paths into contact with them?
UPCOMING MEETINGS
